The Vein Center At Vascular
Surgery Specialists

A number of factors contribute to varicose veins, including pregnancy and heredity. They are characterized by visible leg veins that may be swollen, cause pain, discomfort, or itching. At Vascular Surgery Specialists’ Vein Center, we use the latest advancements in technology to offer minimally invasive treatment for varicose veins.

Our physicians are skilled in the newest techniques in sclerotherapy and radiofrequency ablations that offer quicker recovery, minimal pain or discomfort, and can be performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthetic. These procedures are specialized microsurgical techniques that yield excellent cosmetic results and minimal scarring.

Surgeons at VSS use the latest technology to map your veins, determine your suitability for various treatments and then treat your varicose veins. These include the ultrasound machine from GE corporation, the Vision VeinViewer and the VNUS Radiofrequency Generator. We invest in the newest technology because we know that it increases the accuracy of your tests and allows us to offer the best solution for your needs.

The high-tech equipment we use supplies real-time dynamic information about blood flow in a way that still images provided by CT scans or MRIs cannot. The surgeons at VSS use these technologies:

GE Ultrasound Machines locate deeper varicose veins using state-of-the-art imaging technology. The ultrasound imaging allows your surgeon to detect abnormalities in your arteries and veins and identify where to guide the laser or sclerotherapy solution used to treat the abnormal veins.

The Vision VeinViewer is a vascular imaging system that uses near-infrared light to allow your surgeon to clearly see your vein structure directly on the surface of your skin.

With the VNUS Radiofrequency Generator, your surgeon uses radiofrequency energy to precisely and effectively collapse and seal varicose vein walls. Once a leg vein is closed, blood flow is redirected to healthy veins. The VNUS procedure gives you a quick, comfortable return to everyday activities, and improves the appearance of varicose veins.

TREATMENT OPTIONS:

Radiofrequency Ablations
Radiofrequency ablation is a minimally invasive treatment for varicose veins during which the surgeon guides a small laser catheter into the vein that heats and seals the vein walls from the inside. The vein is then re-absorbed into the body.

Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy, or 'injection therapy', is the most common treatment for varicose veins. It involves injecting a solution into the vein that irritates the vein walls, and causes it to collapse. The body then reabsorbs the vein. Blood is re-routed to a healthy vein, improving circulation in the area.

Sclerotherapy and radiofrequency laser treatment complement each other and often a combination works best. VSS Vein Center physicians are skilled at determining which treatment is best for your condition.
